Participating at minicamp
Fri, Jun 12, 2026, 4:36 PM
Scott participated in the Colts' minicamp practice Thursday.
Analysis: Scott missed most of his 2025 rookie season due to a persistent knee injury. The reserve safety appears to be back to full health, however, and he'll likely slot into a rotational role in the coming season.
Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard Battling for No. 2 role
Fri, Jun 12, 2026, 4:06 PM
Leonard competed with Anthony Richardson for the No. 2 quarterback role during the Colts' recent minicamp and remains in contention to serve as the primary backup to Daniel Jones (Achilles), Joel A. Erickson of the IndyStar reports.
Analysis: Jones remains unavailable for team drills, affording both Leonard and Richardson plenty of reps in their head-to-head competition. Head coach Shane Steichen said there is currently no clear winner, and both quarterbacks will resume their job battle in training camp as Jones works his way back from the Achilles injury that derailed the Colts' 2025 season.
Ashton Dulin
Ashton Dulin Competing for expanded role
Fri, Jun 12, 2026, 9:32 AM
Dulin has impressed at OTAs and mandatory minicamp and is making a push for the No. 3 wide receiver role behind Alec Pierce (ankle) and Josh Downs, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Dulin said his approach has been "attacking [the offseason] as if it's my first year, knowing that, that [No. 3] spot is open." After the Colts traded Michael Pittman to Pittsburgh, Stephen Holder of ESPN concurs Dulin has taken an early lead for the No. 3 role over Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Laquon Treadwell and rookie seventh-round pick Deion Burks and was a standout at minicamp. Offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said Dulin has been moving around the offensive formation at practice and "can be really good for us this year on offense." The 29-year-old totaled a 5-106-0 line across 12 regular-season appearances in 2025 and has topped 200 receiving yards just once in his career.
Spencer Shrader
Spencer Shrader Working his way back
Thu, Jun 11, 2026, 6:54 PM
Shrader (knee) went three of five on kicks during minicamp Thursday, Kevin Bowen 93.5 The Fan in Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: It's notable that the kicker even participated after tearing his ACL in Week 5 of the 2025 campaign after being run into by a defender. Shrader is on track to compete with Blake Grupe for the Colts' starting kick job during training camp. Grupe made all five of his kicks Thursday, per Bowen.
Daniel Jones
Daniel Jones Should see 11-on-11 work next month
Thu, Jun 11, 2026, 10:34 AM
Coach Shane Steichen said this week that Jones (Achilles) is expected to participate in 11-on-11 drills when training camp begins next month, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Jones, who suffered an Achilles' tear Dec. 7 last year, has been been working in the seven-on-seven portions of practice, and per Boyd, the QB asked about about moving on to 11-on-11's during the team's minicamp this week. On that topic, coach Shane Steichen noted, "we want to be super smart with him...I mean, could he potentially do it (11-on-11)? Yeah, probably. He probably could, but we're not going to do that right now." In any case, Jones' recovery remains on track, and assuming no setbacks this summer, he'll continue to work toward being ready to go for the Colts' Sept. 13 regular-season opener against the Ravens, with the signal-caller's eventual participation in team drills representing a major milestone toward that.
Alec Pierce
Alec Pierce Discusses ankle surgery
Wed, Jun 10, 2026, 2:29 PM
Pierce (ankle) revealed Wednesday that he underwent surgery this spring after not getting the results he wanted from a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection at the start of the offseason, JJ Stankevitz of Colts.com reports.
Analysis: Pierce didn't elaborate on the specifics of his injury or surgery, but he at least clarified the general timeline while speaking with reporters. His left ankle has bothered him since the end of the 2024 season, and he dealt with soreness throughout 2025 while recording his first 1,000-yard campaign. He hoped the issue would resolve this winter with a PRP injection and subsequent rehab program (estimated at 6-to-8 weeks), but the ankle didn't get much better, leaving Pierce to choose between surgery or playing through the injury again. He and the Colts agreed on surgery as the solution in late March, only a few weeks after reaching agreement on a four-year, $114 million contract (with $60 million guaranteed at signing). The Colts presumably knew surgery was a possibility when they gave Pierce the huge contract; relations appear amicable between player and team. In any case, Pierce now faces an estimated rehab process of 4-to-6 months, making him uncertain for the start of training camp. He'll be about five and a half months removed from surgery when the Colts host the Ravens in Week 1 (Sept. 13).
Lands on reserve/retired list
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 8:54 PM
The Colts placed Lowery (undisclosed) on the reserve/retired list Tuesday.
Analysis: Lowery's NFL career has come to an end after just one season. The 23-year-old spent time with both the Ravens and Colts and amassed five tackles (one solo) across three games while playing on both defense and special teams.
Alec Pierce
Alec Pierce May miss start of training camp
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 8:15 PM
Coach Shane Steichen acknowledged Tuesday that Pierce, who is bouncing back from an offseason ankle procedure, isn't a lock to be ready for the start of training camp, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: With regard to the wideout's training camp availability, Steichen noted that it could be "a couple weeks in" before Pierce is ready to practice. That said, there's nothing to suggest that Pierce's Week 1 status will be affected by his ankle issue, and once he's back to full strength the 26-year-old will reprise the key role in Indy's offense that helped him land a four-year, $116 million deal to remain with the team on the heels of a 2025 campaign in which he recorded a 47-1,003-6 line on 84 targets in 15 regular-season games.
Tending to back tightness
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 7:35 PM
Ward (back) did not participate during the Colts' minicamp Tuesday, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: The issue is not considered serious, and per Chappell, Ward may return to the practice field as soon as Wednesday. The veteran figures to be a key piece of an Indianapolis defense hoping for a rebound in 2026.
Doing drills during OTAs
Thu, Jun 4, 2026, 6:14 PM
Gardner (calf) is participating during the Colts' OTAs.
Analysis: Gardner sat out four of Indianapolis' last five games in 2025 as he dealt with a calf strain, but it doesn't look like it's bothering him during offseason workouts. The Colts will be hoping they can get a healthy, productive season out of the two-time All-Pro in 2026.
Will Mallory
Will Mallory On field for OTAs
Wed, Jun 3, 2026, 6:22 PM
Mallory (lung) is participating during the Colts' OTAs, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan reports.
Analysis: Mallory was only able to appear in two games in 2025 in part due to a lung issue, but he's evidently back in shape for football activities with offseason workouts underway. With 2025 first-rounder Tyler Warren, veteran Mo Alie-Cox and in-line specialist Drew Ogletree all returning in 2026, Mallory will have to compete for a spot on Indianapolis' final 53-man roster.
Anthony Gould
Anthony Gould Fielding punts at OTAs
Wed, Jun 3, 2026, 6:13 PM
Gould (foot) is one of a few players returning punts during the Colts' OTAs, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan reports.
Analysis: Gould appeared in 11 games in his second season last year, accumulating 647 kick return yards and 57 punt return yards before his campaign was cut short by a foot injury. Indianapolis traded starting receiver Michael Pittman to Pittsburgh back in March and didn't make any major acquisitions at wideout during the offseason, so now that he's healthy again, Gould is positioned well to make the final 53-man roster for 2026.
Easton Stick
Easton Stick Finds a new team
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 6:58 PM
Stick signed with the Colts on Monday.
Analysis: The quarterback spent the 2025 campaign in Atlanta, rising from the practice squad following Michael Penix Jr.'s late-season knee injury, though Stick never appeared in a regular-season game. He last saw action in 2023 with the Chargers, when he played in five games and finished with 1,129 yards and three touchdowns against one interception. The fifth-round pick of the Chargers in 2019 is likely competing for a backup role again, this time behind Indianapolis' projected starter, Daniel Jones (Achilles).
Daniel Jones
Daniel Jones Progresses to 7-on-7 drills
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 1:22 PM
Jones (Achilles) is participating in 7-on-7 drills Monday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: After participating in individual drills the previous week, Jones has progressed to team drills at OTAs. He's 176 days removed from tearing his Achilles, and Jones' ability to ramp up his activity level at OTAs suggests he remains on track to conclude his recovery in time to take the field Week 1 against the Ravens on Sunday, Sept. 13.
Back from ACL injrury
Wed, May 27, 2026, 5:02 PM
Walley (knee) told reporters Wednesday that he's been fully cleared to return, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Walley, a 2025 third-round pick from Minnesota, has now fully recovered from an ACL tear that sidelined him for the entirety of his rookie season. With Kenny Moore's release from the Colts in early May, Walley expected to compete for a starting secondary role as the offseason progresses.
Daniel Jones
Daniel Jones Throwing at OTAs
Wed, May 27, 2026, 1:46 PM
Jones (Achilles) is present at OTAs on Wednesday and is throwing to teammates on individual routes, Joel Erickson of the Indianapolis Star reports.
Analysis: Jones continues to progress in his recovery from a torn right Achilles suffered early last December, and it's encouraging to see him already handling individual dropbacks and passing drills at OTAs. While Indianapolis has yet to provide an expected timetable for Jones' return to team drills, after OTAs conclude his next chances to ramp up his activity level will arrive during mandatory minicamp from June 9-11, and then during training camp in July. In Jones' stead on Wednesday, Anthony Richardson started first-team reps for the Colts' offense, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports. After signing a two-year, $88 million contract extension in March, Jones is locked in as Indianapolis' starting QB when 100 percent healthy. In April, GM Chris Ballard expressed optimism that Jones could be ready for Week 1, and for his part the 29-year-old signal caller "absolutely" expects to be available at that time, per James Boyd of The Athletic.
Ready to continue NFL career
Wed, May 20, 2026, 3:49 PM
Ward (concussion) is present for OTAs and has decided to continue his football career after contemplating retirement, ESPN.com's Stephen Holder reports.
Analysis: Ward's last two seasons were a nightmare even though he largely remained effective when on the field. His daughter passed away in October 2024, during his final season with the 49ers, and Ward then played just seven games in 2025 for the Colts while spending most of the season in concussion protocol. He spoke with reporters Wednesday for the first time since the end of the 2025 campaign, confirming that he's back with the Colts for another season and has high hopes for a secondary that also features CB Sauce Gardner. The Colts recently released long-time slot corner Kenny Moore, unwilling to commit three starter-level contracts to the same position long-term.
Signs with Colts
Mon, May 18, 2026, 4:14 PM
The Colts signed Castle as an undrafted free agent Monday.
Analysis: Castle played 68 total games (three starts) in his collegiate career at Appalachian State and most recently at Duke. In his 2025 season, the undrafted rookie turned 115 total carries into 488 yards and 12 touchdowns while also catching 17 passes for 111 yards and one touchdown. The 5-foot-11 running back will look to earn a spot on the active roster as he competes in the Colts' offseason program.
Latches on with Indianapolis
Thu, May 7, 2026, 11:10 PM
The Colts signed Vaughn as an undrafted free agent Thursday.
Analysis: Vaughn wrapped his collegiate career at Abilene Christian in 2025, turning 114 carries into 671 yards and eight touchdowns while also catching 11 passes for 72 yards over 13 contests. The running back possesses a sizeable 6-foot-3, 235-pound frame, which he'll look to use to his advantage of at rookie minicamp beginning Friday.
Signs with Indy
Thu, May 7, 2026, 11:02 PM
The Colts signed Sharpe as an undrafted free agent Thursday.
Analysis: Sharpe spent time with Houston, Missouri State, Fresno State and Arkansas in college before going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft. The wide receiver caught 41 of 64 targets for 592 yards and three touchdowns over 12 contests in his final collegiate season with the Razorbacks, and he'll look to prove that he can hang at the NFL level during the Colts' rookie minicamp beginning Friday.
